Edwardsville, IL – Democratic State Senator Evelyn Bowles, of Edwardsville, is leaving office before her term ends in January so her replacement can have some seniority over other incoming senators.
The 81-year old Bowles did not run for re-election this year. Madison County's State's Attorney Bill Haine won the seat and will be sworn in this morning.
The man who will replace Haine as Madison County's State's Attorney is William Mudge. Mudge will serve until 2004, when he says he plans to run for election.
Bowles has served in the Senate since 1994 and was the Deputy Minority Caucus Chair for the Senate Democrats.
