Knife on Plane Appeared to be Innocent Mistake

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A man was questioned at Lambert Airport in St. Louis after telling an American Airlines flight attendant he found a steak knife in a baby bag he had taken aboard the plane.

The passenger was flying with his wife and two small children aboard flight 1683 from New York's Kennedy Airport to St. Louis
when he found the knife and told an attendant. The attendant gave the knife to the pilot and the flight continued normally.

No charges were filed.

The Transportation Security Administration questioned the family after they landed in St. Louis, shortly before noon.

TSA and American Airlines say they believe the man was innocent.

A Kennedy Airport spokesman would not say how the knife was able to get through security.
