Carnahan Makes Multiple Stops Across State On Last Day

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Senator Jean Carnahan took her final day of
campaigning to senior citizens, predicting she'll win by a wider margin than polls indicate.

The Democratic incumbent is generally shown in a dead heat with Republican Jim Talent.

Speaking this morning at a retirement apartment complex in Columbia, Carnahan said years of campaigning alongside her late husband, former Governor Mel Carnahan, gave her the sense the race
won't be a close as the pundits are saying.

At a retirement community in Lee's Summit, Mrs. Carnahan shook hands with each of the 140 seniors she spoke with. She told
residents that she needs to go back to Washington to restore cuts in Medicare.
