Jefferson City, MO – The Missouri Department of Conservation wants St. Louis based Ameren U-E to pay $3 million to settle a lawsuit over fish killed this spring at the Lake of the Ozarks.
The lawsuit blames the utility company for the death of 43,000 fish at Bagnall Dam. More than 20 species were affected. The department says a rare species, the paddlefish, accounts for most of the financial loss.
Ameren filed its own lawsuit last week in Jefferson City, trying to keep the state from seeking reparations.
