St. Louis, MO – First Lady Laura Bush has high praise for the students of one suburban St. Louis high school. Mrs. Bush visited Maplewood Richmond Heights High School Wednesday to highlight the school's character education program. Junior Stephen Griffard is a member of the school's Character Plus team; a group which helps to teach other students such concepts as honesty and self-confidence. Griffard says his school's culture reinforces the values he's learned at home.
The White House has recognized Maplewood Richmond Heights High School as a national leader in character education.
