Clayton, MO – The Missouri Highway and Transportation Commission will take a second look at proposed funding cuts that opponents say would severely hurt the St. Louis region. Last month, the Missouri Department of Transportation recommended two funding options that would have reduced St. Louis's allocation by as much as $75-million a year. Dick Fleming is president and CEO of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association. He says it may be best not to change the funding allocation formula, as a new federal transportation bill due next year will alter that process.
Historically, St. Louis receives about one-third of Missouri's total transportation funding.
