This article first appeared in the St. Louis Beacon, Nov. 3, 2010 - Donna Jones and Bill Haas have won the two seats up for grabs on the elected board of the St. Louis Public Schools.
With 100 percent of Tuesday's vote counted, Jones led the field of six candidates with 35 percent; Haas had 23 percent.
Jones is currently vice president of the elected board, which meets regularly but has no power over the city schools, which are run by the three-member appointed Special Administrative Board. Haas, a former member of the school board who has run unsuccessfully for several other offices, won the seat vacated by Peter Downs.
