St. Louis, MO – Hunters in Missouri are expected to have killed about 100,000 deer on the opening weekend of firearms season.
The Missouri Department of Conservation tallied more than 52,000 kills on Saturday, the season's opening day. An official at the department's Springfield office said the total was up to about 81,000 on Sunday afternoon, and hunters had until 10 p.m to report their kills.
Hunters took a total of about 86,000 deer in last year's opening weekend.
