ST. LOUIS – Authorities in Illinois and Oklahoma are searching for a one-time killer they suspect in the armed abductions of three women from those states.
Investigators say 51-year-old Carey Breshers kidnapped a woman from an Oklahoma City financial institution last week, then dropped her off unharmed in St. Louis.
Then on Tuesday morning, authorities say he abducted two women from their loan-store jobs in O'Fallon, Ill., just east of St. Louis and dropped them off unharmed in Missouri near where he had left the Oklahoma victim.
Authorities say Breshers had ordered the Illinois women to a local bank to try to cash their company's checks. But a teller grew suspicious and called police.
St. Louis' KTVI reports that Breshers served prison time for killing an Oklahoma farmer in 1976, when Breshers was 16.
