St. Louis – A suburban St. Louis police officer has died, more than a week after suffering a heart attack and crashing his patrol car.
Maplewood Sgt. George Ross died this morning at a hospital. He was 62.
On March 31, Ross was among hundreds of officers who attended the funeral Mass for St. Louis officer David Haynes, who died in a crash while pursuing a burglary suspect.
Ross was driving on Interstate 55 after Haynes' burial when he suffered the heart attack and crashed his patrol car.
Ross was a 33-year veteran of the Maplewood department.
