Clayton, Mo. – An Alabama truck driver accused of causing a traffic pileup that killed three people and injured 15 others a year and a half ago will face trial this summer in St. Louis County.
Jeffrey Knight faces three counts of involuntary manslaughter. His June 21 trial date was set at a hearing yesterday .
Prosecutors allege that Knight was distracted by a cell phone call before his tractor-trailer truck slammed into vehicles that had slowed down on Interstate 64 in July 2008.
The collision caused a chain reaction accident involving more than a dozen cars.
