High blood pressure blamed in death of football player, 13

By AP/St. Louis Public Radio

St. Louis – The St. Louis County medical examiner has ruled that a 13-year-old football player who collapsed during practice in August died as a result of hypertensive cardiovascular disease -
high blood pressure.

Anthony Troupe Jr. was 6-foot-2 and weighed 383 pounds. Medical Examiner Dr. Mary Case said she couldn't link the death directly to Anthony's size, but obesity is a risk factor.

Anthony collapsed while running a lap before practice. His father died at age 45 in 2007 because of high blood pressure and clogged arteries.
