East St. Louis, Ill. – Two East St. Louis men charged with helping to distribute more than a ton of marijuana have been sentenced to federal prison.
Recardo Bonner, 39, and 31-year-old Vernon Lowery entered guilty pleas in May.
Bonner has been sentenced to 11 years in prison; Lowery got 3 years and 10 months .
The two were among 14 people who've been convicted in a multistate marijuana distribution scheme.
Prosecutors say the conspirators transported Mexican pot from Arizona to Illinois, Missouri and Ohio, where it was passed to local distributors.
