St. Louis – St. Louis Mayor Francis Slay is signing a measure that outlines hiring goals for minorities and women in public construction projects.
The bill covers city construction contracts of $1 million or more.
Among other things, the ordinance requires that a quarter of all labor hours go to qualified and trained minorities; five percent must go to women.
The ordinance will also set a 20 percent target for hiring workers who live in the city of St. Louis.
