Committee will draft autism coverage rules

By AP/KWMU

Jefferson City, Mo. – Missouri House Speaker Ron Richard has created a committee to draft regulations for insurance coverage of autism treatment.

Legislation requiring such coverage failed to come up for a House vote during the last legislative session.

Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon has criticized Republican House leaders for not bringing the autism insurance bill to a vote.

Nixon said the coverage is vital because early intervention can make a
big difference in autistic children.
