Jefferson City, MO – The State Capitol Building in Jefferson City is getting a new roof.
The project is scheduled to begin next week and cost $2.1 million.
Jeff Schaeperkoetter oversees repairs to state office buildings.
"The previous roof has failed...we've done some temporary measures to make sure that it holds the water out...it's a project that's going to probably take us about four or five months," Schaeperkoetter said.
The project will not involve any work on the Capitol dome, just the roof over the east and west wings and the legislative library.
Schaeperkoetter says the work will include strengthening the parapet around the roof, in order to safeguard it against earthquakes.
