Edwardsville, Ill. – Two homes had to be evacuated Monday and power was shut off near downtown Edwardsville because of heavy rain.
Edwardsville Fire Department Lieutenant Bob Morgan told the Alton Telegraph that storm sewers were overwhelmed, and the residents of the homes had to leave because of problems with the structures’ brick foundations.
Several roads in Edwardsville also had to be shut down because of high water.
