St. Louis, MO – Detectives operating out of Lambert St. Louis Airport have broken up a luggage theft ring responsible for stealing over 900 items.
Police have made a total 8 arrests involving thefts occurring over the past 15 months.
Airport Police Chief Paul Mason says the workers were employed by St. Louis-based Huntleigh USA.
The workers have admitted to rifling through bags before they were placed on outbound Delta Airlines flights.
"What they were doing was rifling through down in the baggage makeup room," says Mason.
"They were stashing stuff and then when they left they were carrying out in their coats, fanny packs or backpacks."
Stolen items include laptops, cameras, iPods, CDs, even firearms.
