St. Louis – The north St. Louis home where rock pioneer Chuck Berry wrote and rehearsed many of his classic songs, including "Johnny B. Goode," and "Roll Over Beethoven" has been added to the national register of historic places.
Berry and his wife bought the house on Whittier street in the city's Greater Ville neighborhood in 1950, and lived there until 1958.
The listing would not prevent someone from tearing the house down, but the designation would help a future owner get preservation tax credits.
Chuck Berry could not be reached for comment.
He is 82 years old and lives in Wentzville. He still performs regularly in St. Louis.
