Illinois lawmakers meet to consider Blagojevich's future

By AP/KWMU

Springfield, Ill. – The Illinois General Assembly is meeting in special session this week to consider holding a special election to replace Barack Obama in the U.S. Senate. But it's already clear that ousting Governor Rod Blagojevich is at the top of lawmakers' to-do list.

Democratic Representative Jack Franks said on a scale of one to 10, "impeachment is 25 and everything else is a two."

The legislative session will be the first since Blagojevich was arrested last week.

Republicans said they plan to put intense public pressure on Democrats to move against Blagojevich.

A spokesman for Democratic House Speaker Michael Madigan said he'll discuss the idea of impeachment with Republican leaders.
