Bail bondsmen charged with kidnapping, demanding cash

By AP/KWMU

Maryland Heights, Mo. – Two Missouri bail bondsmen have been charged with kidnapping a man in August and demanding money for his release.

Police in Maryland Heights said James and Gerald Cox, along with four armed bounty hunters, forced their way into a hotel room and kidnapped a man who had not been charged with a crime.

Investigators said the group then demanded money and threatened to take the victim's house, before his mother paid $5,500.

In all, 26 felony counts have been filed. Three of the bounty hunters have not been taken into custody.
