Los Angeles – A federal jury in Los Angeles is deciding the case of a St. Charles County woman accused of orchestrating an online hoax that preceded the suicide of a teenage neighbor.
The case against Lori Drew went to jurors late Monday after closing arguments by both sides.
Prosecutors allege Drew created a hoax in which a profile of a fictitious boy was created on MySpace to contact 13-year-old Megan Meier.
They say Drew wanted to know if Megan was spreading rumors about her daughter.
Megan committed suicide in 2006 after receiving a cruel message.
The jury will decide charges of conspiracy and accessing computers without authorization.
