St. Louis – The former treasurer of the American Federation of Government Employees in St. Louis faces sentencing in October after pleading guilty to federal charges.
The U.S. Attorney's office said Thursday that Edna Latimore, 41, of Ferguson embezzled more than $77,000. She pleaded guilty to making false statements on a union financial report.
U.S. Attorney Catherine Hanaway said Latimore was responsible for collection and accounting of dues money.
Hanaway said Latimore made several unauthorized withdrawals from a bank account using an ATM card, mostly at casinos, then concealed the withdrawals.
The embezzlement left the organization unable to meet its financial obligations, and prompted an audit.
