St. Louis – In communities across the United States, statistics show that people are spending significantly less time outside. Meanwhile, research shows that children who interact with nature are often in better physical health and develop better social and creative skills.

KWMU's science reporter Julie Bierach spoke with Dr. Peter Raven, President and Director of the Missouri Botanical Garden following a nature education community forum.

At the forum, Dr. Raven discussed the importance of reconnecting children with nature.
