Jefferson City, Mo. – Sarah Steelman has confirmed that she received a campaign donation from a group that supports embryonic stem cell research without publicly reporting it.
Steelman said the failure to report the donation was a "clerical error."
The Republican State Treasurer and gubernatorial candidates says she will give the money to a charity that provides services to pregnant women.
A spokesman said the donation does not change the fact that Steelman is pro-life and does not support embryonic stem cell research.
Supporters of Health Research and Treatments reported giving $1,275 to Steelman in December, when she was still seeking re-election as Missouri treasurer.
The group said the check was not deposited until after Steelman entered the governor's race.
