SAINT LOUIS, MO – The former CEO of Sprint Nextel begins his job as the president of the University of Missouri today.
Gary Forsee was picked in December and has met with university officials and legislators since then. But he officially begins his post today, earning $400,000 annually under a three-year contract with up to $100,000 in incentives.
Forsee had a 35 year career in the telecommunications industry, but was forced to resign from Sprint in October. He has vowed to earn the trust and respect of skeptics,
including some faculty members who question his lack of an academic background.
Forsee replaces Elson Floyd, who left last April for the top job at Washington State University.
