Jefferson City, MO – A top official for Missouri Governor Matt Blunt is threatening to subpoena Attorney General Jay Nixon for using a state vehicle and staff for political purposes.
Nixon's gubernatorial campaign recently sent the State Office of Administration a reimbursement check for more than $47,000.
He had used a state-owned vehicle and some of his state employees for campaign work.
But Administration Commissioner Michael Keathley won't cash the check without more information.
"He's provided no detail for any of the $47,000-plus dollars as to what it is making restitution for," Keathley said.
Keathley is giving Nixon until December 7th to provide the requested information, or he'll seek a subpoena from a judge.
"What we're asking of the Attorney General is (that) he provide the same detail as would be expected of anyone that fills out an expense account, or that gives the state a remittance or reimbursement of any kind," Keathley said.
On Wednesday night, a spokesperson for the Nixon campaign told KWMU that the requested information has been sent to Commissioner Keathley.
