St. Louis – Famed adventurer Peter Hillary followed in his father's footsteps--literally. In 1953, Sir Edmund Hillary was one of the first two men to successfully reach the top of Mount Everest.
Peter Hillary duplicated his dad's Everest summit in 1990. Since then, he has accomplished a number of other challenging expeditions.
Hillary is in town as part of the Maryville University St. Louis Speaker's Series, and he tells KWMU's Bill Raack that he plans to climb Mount McKinley in Alaska next year. After that climb, he will have scaled the highest peaks on all seven continents.
