St. Louis – Former St. Louis Blues defenseman Al MacInnis will be inducted into the National Hockey League's Hall of Fame Monday in Toronto.
MacInnis, who spent the last ten of his 23 NHL seasons in St. Louis, was elected to the Hall earlier this year.
He says the Hall of Fame was never a goal of his while he was a player.
"There's such a timeline there, MacInnis said. "The longevity that you play, how fortunate you are to play with the teams, the coaches you have and your teammates. I don't know if it really hits you until you get the call from the selection committee to say you did get inducted into the Hall of Fame and that was certainly a special day."
MacInnis retired in 2005 after missing most of a year due to an eye injury.
He now works as the vice-president of hockey operations for the Blues.
