Former policeman convicted of killing other officer

ST. Louis, MO – A former police officer faces life in rison after a jury Thursday convicted him of killing another police officer.

Robert Brooks, 38 was accused of killing Amanda Cates. Brooks was a Calverton Park officer; Cates, 26, was a Normandy police officer.

She was found in a pool of blood on the bathroom floor of the home she shared with Brooks and his 14-year-old daughter last August in Crystal City. She was shot in the cheek and the bullet severed a main artery.

Brooks will be sentenced October 12; the jury recommended he serve life in prison plus 75 years.
