A handful of elections today in St. Louis

By Tom Weber, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Today (Tuesday) is an Election Day in Missouri, but most people have no reason to go to polling places. Only five issues are on ballots in the St. Louis region, and they're all in St. Louis County.

Getting the most attention is the race for Mayor in Overland. Three current city councilmen are running - Mary Beth Conlon, Peggy Keller, and Mike Schneider. The winner replaces Ann Purzner, who was recalled earlier this year.

Voters in the Maplewood-Richmond Heights School District will see a familiar ballot question. A tax increase that was rejected in April is getting another shot.

The city of Wildwood is asking residents to approve a new $8 million City Hall and police station.

Voters in Clayton's 2nd ward will pick a new alderman to replace Linda Goldstein, who gave up the seat when she was elected Mayor this year.

Finally, Vinita Park has a $750,000 bond question on the ballot to raise money for improvements along Page Avenue.

Polls are open until 7:00 tonight.
