Police think they've nabbed convenience store killer

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – Police say they're confident a man who wounded himself in a standoff Monday night is the suspected killer of a convenience store clerk in Pacific.

The man shot himself in Valley Park after police surrounded an apartment where he was staying.

Police are not releasing the man's identity. The man's condition was unknown.

Pacific Police Chief Jim Brune says investigators are confident the man shot and killed 42-year-old gas station clerk Kevin Henderson last week.

There was another killing of a convenience store clerk in Missouri the day after Henderson's death, but police quickly concluded the two were not related. A suspect has been arrested in that second shooting, which happened just outside Kansas City.
