Study suggests Missouri parents want more school choice

By Bill Raack, KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A new study being released today (Monday) suggests most Missourians think parents should have more control over where their children go to school.

The survey was commissioned by the Show-Me Institute, a free-market think tank based in St. Louis County. Institute President Rex Sinquefield says two-thirds of those surveyed favor some form of school choice for parents.

"And when asked whether taxpayer money should be given or tax credits should be given to allow parents to take their children to any school of their choice, public or private or religious, again well over two-thirds of respondents agreed with that strongly," Sinquefield said.

Representatives of the Show-Me Institute will be guests on KWMU's "St. Louis on the Air" program Monday morning at 11:00 a.m.
