Belleville, Ill. – A police report released Thursday shows that the 85-year-old woman whose car plowed into a Metro East elementary school in January lost control of her car.
The accident killed student Ryan Wesling. He was 8 years old. Two of his classmates were injured.
After the accident, driver Grace Keim told Shiloh police that she felt panicked and the car went crazy.
One investigator says Keim tried to stop the car in the parking lot but pressed the gas pedal instead of the brake.
Keim got a ticket for failure to reduce speed. Ryan's parents have filed a wrongful death lawsuit against her.
