St. Louis, MO – A king penguin chick named "Tut" has gone on display at the St. Louis Zoo's Penguin & Puffin Coast. Tut was born about a month ago and still is covered in fluffy gray feathers.
It was born to first-time parents Iris and Kaiju, though it's not yet known whether they had a son or daughter.
"They share responsibilities for incubation and rearing, and are very protective of their baby," noted Michael Macek, the zoo's curator of birds.
Both parents take turns during incubation keeping the egg warm, with chicks hatching after about two months.
