Baumruk re-trial starts today

By AP/KWMU

St. Louis, MO – A re-trial begins today (Wednesday) for the man accused of killing his wife and shooting four others inside the St. Louis County Courthouse 15 years ago.

Kenneth Baumruk, 67, was convicted of the murder in 2001 and sentenced to die.

But the Missouri Supreme Court later ruled he should not have been tried in the same courthouse where the shooting happened. The new trial will be held in St. Charles County.

The shooting in 1992 happened during a divorce proceeding. Baumruk is accused of shooting his wife, Mary, along with both attorneys. He then allegedly roamed the halls and wounded a bailiff and guard.

Baumruk survived nine wounds from returned fire. Mary Baumruk was the only person killed.
