St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Public Schools met five of the state's 14 standards in the Annual Performance Report---falling one standard short for provisional accreditation.
The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education released reports for all the state's school districts today (Friday).
Superintendent Diana Bourisaw says the district received progress points in five other areas. She calls the results encouraging, "We're moving in the right direction. We're excited about that. We're looking at our path in terms of are we making steady gains and we certainly are."
But the district made no progress in math scores for high school students or attendance rates. The Missouri board of education has indicated the state would intervene if the district did NOT make significant progress this year.
Bourisaw says she feels confident the district will be allowed to maintain control.
