Mt. Vernon, Ill. – Services will be held this (Thu.) morning for Illinois state appellate court Judge Terrence Hopkins, who died Monday in his southern Illinois home.
Hopkins sat on the state's Fifth District Appellate court. He was 58 when he died in his sleep in his Mount Vernon home, apparently of a heart attack.
The West Frankfort native was elected to the appellate court in 1994. Survivors include his wife, two sons and a stepdaughter.
Hopkins got his law degree from Saint Louis University in 1974 and also served as Franklin County State's Attorney from 1976-1983.
