St. Louis, MO – There was a ceremony Sunday to re-name what had been known as the Hilltop Campus at Washington University.

That's the main campus west of Forest Park that doesn't include the medical school. It houses six of the university's seven schools.

It's now the Danforth campus, named for former chancellor William Danforth and the Danforth family.

Danforth turned 80 in April; became chancellor in 1971. He is the brother of longtime Republican Senator John Danforth of St. Louis.

The recognition also honors the Danforth family and the Danforth Foundation for financial support.
