St. Louis, MO – There will be a funeral today (Friday) for the highway worker who was killed on the job this week. Ken Hoierman, 38, was struck while helping at the scene of a car fire on I-55.
MO-DOT workers will wear black arm bands and flags at state buildings have been ordered to fly at half-staff today in honor of Hoierman.
MO-DOTs director, Pete Rahn, on Thursday called for the St. Louis County Prosecutor's office to press charges against the woman who was driving the car that struck Hoierman, who worked for the Motorist Assist program.
The funeral begins at 10:30 a.m. at Kutis Affton Chapel, with burial to follow at Lakewood Park Cemetery.
NEAR CRASH Meanwhile, there was almost another accident Thursday night involving a highway worker. This time it was in St. Charles County.
MO-DOT workers say the driver nearly crashed into them on I-70 near 370. So, they chased him down to a store and blocked him in until police arrived.
