Plane crash kills six near Sullivan, Mo.

Sullivan, MO – Six people died Saturday in the crash of a small plane near the airport in the eastern Missouri town of Sullivan.

The plane was carrying skydivers, and it crashed into a yard near a house, shortly affter takeoff from the Sullivan airport.

Four people died at the scene of the crash, and two died at St. John's Mercy Hospital in Creve Couer.

Two other people aboard the plane were injured. A hospital spokesman says one of the injured is in critical condition and one is in serious condition. Their names have not been released.

The Franklin County sheriff says the plane struck a telephone pole before hitting a tree.

Sullivan is located about 70 miles southwest of St. Louis, located along I-44.
