St. Louis, MO – A new law in Missouri will require children as old as eight to be in booster seats when they're traveling in cars.
Gov. Matt Blunt is to sign the measure into law today (Thu.). Children can switch to regular seat belts before they're eight, if they reach 80 pounds or four feet nine inches tall.
The law expands current booster seat requirements for children up to age four.
Safety advocates backed the bill, saying small children aren't properly protected with a seat belt and need booster seats until they grow into belts made to fit adults.
