St. Louis, MO – President Bush heads to St. Louis today (Wed.) to attend a fund-raiser in Clayton. He'll help U.S. Senator Jim Talent raise money for this fall's campaign.
Talent and Democrat Claire McCaskill are expected to face off in the November election. The Republican Talent is serving his first term in the Senate; he was first elected in 2002.
Tonight's fund-raiser is a $2,000-a-plate affair at the Ritz-Carlton.
PROTEST
Meanwhile, organizers say hundreds of people outside to express concern over Talent's failure to vote for a minimum-wage increase. The rally is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. outside the hotel.
AWARD
Bush will also present the President's Volunteer Service Award to Susan Reese during his visit. Reese is a volunteer at St. Patrick Center, which serves the homeless in downtown St. Louis; she'll be honored by the president soon after he arrives at Lambert Airport.
