St. Louis, MO – Drivers might want to avoid Highway 40 in St. Louis City this weekend.
The road will be completely closed from Grand to Ewing all weekend.
The road will close just after the Cardinals-Cubs game starts tonight which means many fans will have to go home a different way.
Crews will demolish the bridge that takes Compton Avenue over the highway.
Debbie Allen with the Missouri Department of Transportation says this project is not part of the big Highway 40 re-build that's been in the news lately.
"What will go on on I-64 is big and it's going to take a little while," Allen said. "This is just a weekend, a weekend of inconvenience."
Highway 40 will re-open by 5 o'clock Monday morning.
Side-street detours will be marked but Allen says drivers should also consider taking I-44 or I-70 to get around the closure.
