Belleville, Ill. – The family of a girl found last month with a broken neck in a Belleville park is suing her alleged attacker.
Prosecutors say Samson Shelton broke the neck of 17-year-old Ashley Reeves and left her for dead in the woods.
Earlier this week jailers released Shelton on bond. Now Reeves' family is seeking damages of more than $50,000 to pay her medical expenses.
Reeves is reported to be in serious condition at a St. Louis-area hospital.
