Springfield, Ill. – A panel in Illinois has recommended the governor and other office holders get a 9.3% pay raise. That would increase the governor's pay from just over $150,691 to $164,705.
Other raises are being recommended for the Attorney General, Secretary of State, Comptroller, Treasurer and Lieutenant Governor.
They will happen unless both the Illinois House and Senate both vote to reject them.
Gov. Rod Blagojevich and Treasurer Judy Baar Topinka, who will face Blagojevich in the gubernatorial election in November, have both said they oppose the increases.
