St. Louis – The state wants advice about how to redevelop Johnson's Shut-Ins state park, which was destroyed when the Taum Sauk reservoir collapsed in December.
The flash flood cleared much of the park of its trees and brush and damaging almost all of its facilities. Sue Holst with the Missouri Department of Natural Resources said state officials want feedback on such things as the campground, picnic facilities and hiking trails.
"The park already has changed," Holst said. "When people go back in there, they're going to see a different landscape simply because it was changed so much. But the facilities that we redevelop are what we want the input from the public on."
The DNR will hold open houses in Lesterville, Jefferson City, Farmington and St. Louis during the first week of April.
