Springfield, Ill – Early voting starts today (Monday) in Illinois.
That means anyone who wants to vote in the March primary can do so at the election office in their county.
It's different than absentee voting because early voters won't need an excuse to cast early ballots. Early votes won't be counted, though, until after the polls close on March 21.
Early voting ends March 16th. The move means Illinois joins about 35 other states that have some form of early voting. It is illegal for anyone who votes early to cast a ballot at the polls on Election Day.
To cast an early ballot, voters need to bring a valid photo ID to a government office, usually a county courthouse, though locations will vary by county or municipality.
