St. Louis, MO – Concrete barriers were put up after the 2001 terrorist attacks.
They're being replaced by new post-style barriers made of concrete
and steel at a cost of $2 million.
The project is expected to be completed by mid-June, in time for he annual Fair St. Louis Independence Day celebration on the Arch grounds.
Officials say the concrete barriers were never meant to be permanent, but were a security must in the wake of the terrorist attacks in New York City and Washington, D.C.
