St. Louis, MO. – A Ladue school is taking precautions after a student athlete contracted a staph infection that's resistant to normal antibiotic treatment.
Ladue Horton Watkins High School principal Dr. Joseph Powers says it's not certain how the student got the infection
But he says the school is taking extra care to disinfect athletic facilities and to remind students about hygiene.
We take the whole matter of student health and safety, and our staff health and safety very seriously, so we're going to do everything we can to prevent this from being something that is spread to other people, Powers said.
Powers says he has not had an update on the student's status since the parents notified him over the weekend.
The student's identity is not being released.
